Matchday 5 of the 2018 CAF Champions League group stages got underway on Friday evening with some of the biggest teams on the African continent in action.

Horoya and AS Togo-Port got proceedings underway in the early kick-off in Conakry with the Guinea club claiming a 2-1 win. Victory moved them atop Mamelodi Sundowns in Group C and into poll position of being the team to join Wydad Casablance in the knockout stages.

The Brazilians, who play host to Horoya in Pretoria later this month, lost 1-0 to Wydad in Morocco. Anas Al Asbahi's goal the difference between the two sides as the defending champions beat the 2016 champions in Casablanca.

Eight-time champions Al Ahly beat Group A rivals Espérance de Tunis 1-0 in Rades to book their place in the quarterfinals alongside the Tunisia club.

Furthermore, TP Mazembe, who too have booked their place in the next round, came from a goal down to frustrate ES Sétif in Algeria. The 1-1 draw leaves the Black Eagles with it all to do in their final Group B encounter.
