CARA Brazzaville moved top of a tightly contested Group C following a 3-1 win over Williamsville AC at Stade Alphonse Massemba-Débat on Sunday afternoon.
Goals from Kinfounia N'Gouama, Cabwey Kivutuka and Christ Ngoma Mbo sealed all three points for the hosts in their 2018 CAF Confederations Cup clash, with a trip to Enyimba to follow in the final round of fixtures.
Victory moves the Congolese club up to nine points, two clear of WAC with Djoliba and Enyimba to lock horns later tonight in Bamako.
CARA hit the front in the 15th minute through N'Gouama as the hosts got off to the perfect start.
Kivutuka doubled their lead seven minutes after the break, but the Ivorian club got a goal of their own through Karidioula Mofosse in the 72nd minute to make for a nervy ending.
Ngoma Mbo, though, eased the tension with three minutes of regulation time remaining as he fired home to send the fans into ecstasy, and subsequently seal all three points for CARA who are now favourites to advance into the knockout stages as group winners.
Despite defeat, Williamsville will fancy their chances of booking their place in the quarterfinals with a home clash against Djoliba to come.
