Aduana Stars Chief Executive Officer Albert Commey has blamed coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi for their home defeat to ASEC Mimosas in the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup this past weekend.

The Ghanaian league champions were beaten 2-0 on their own ground in Dormaa on Sunday, with the loss ruling them out of quarterfinal contention.

Goals from ASEC’s Gbagnon Anicet Badie and Braciano Ta Bi handed Stars a first continental defeat at the Nana Agyemang Badu II Park.

The result left Aduana on the foot of the Group A table with four points, ending any hopes of reaching the knockout rounds.

According to Commey, the tactical approach of the Japanese trainer was wrong and he has criticised Kenichi for being defensive in a must-win game.

"I think that the team did not gel well," Commey said. "I also have issues with the coach’s system that he played.

[A] 4-1-4-1 if you are playing at home I think it is more of a defensive [tactic] than [an] attacking [one]. Yesterday I asked those questions but he is the coach and he decided to go by those formulas.

"For me, I have to be very honest and praise ASEC Mimosas. In the first leg, we [Aduana] dominated them but they scored one goal, little did I know that they will come and continue what they did by scoring two goals."

Aduana Stars will wrap up their Group A campaign with a match away to Raja Casablanca on August 29.
