Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the signings of attacker Lebogang Manyama and defender Mario Booysen.
Manyama, who was released from Turkish club Konyaspor last month, joins the Amakhosi on a three-year contract, while Booysen has signed a two-year deal (with an option for a third) and moves from Ajax Cape Town.
The 27-year-old Manyama is a major coup for the Soweto giants, with the former SuperSport United and Cape Town City player winning the PSL Footballer of the Year award in 2017.
He then had an unsuccessful spell in Turkey and will be looking to get his career back on track in South Africa.
“It’s a dream come true. I have supported Chiefs from a young age. I grew up on the same street as Brian Baloyi in Alexandra, and that’s how I fell in love with the club," Manyama is quoted by Chiefs’ official website.
“I now want to help the club win trophies and to achieve glory, because that’s what the Kaizer Chiefs brand represents to me.”
Booysen’s signing comes in the wake of Chiefs’ failure to bring defender Lorenzo Grodinho back to the club from Bloemfontein Celtic.
“If you set yourself goals, you aim for the best and Chiefs are just that,” explained Booysen.
“It’s been a lifelong aspiration to play for this club as I have always felt that Kaizer Chiefs are far ahead of all other South African clubs. They are true leaders, all others follow.”
Booysen and Manyama could make their debut for Chiefs when the club takes on SuperSport United in the first leg of the MTN8 semifinals this weekend.
