17h30 - We conclude our coverage following the conclusion of the clash in Mainz. Besides the on-going English Premier League action, there is plenty of football to look forward to later this evening in the Italian Serie A, Spanish La Liga, French Ligue 1 and German Bundesliga as Borussia Dortmund welcome RP Leipzig.

17h25 - Anthony Ujah (Nigeria) was on target for Mainz as they recorded a 1-0 win over Stuttgart on the opening weekend of the 2018-19 German Bundesliga season.

17h15 - Two early goals in the match between Fulham and Burnley. Jean Michael Seri (Ivory Coast) opened the scoring for the hosts before Jeff Hendrick leveled matters.

17h00 - Kick-off in today's final two English Premier League matches. Newcastle United vs Chelsea and Fulham vs Burnley.

16h50 - Lille recorded a 3-0 win over Guingamp in the French Ligue 1. Nicolas Pepe (Ivory Coast) and Lebo Mothiba (South Africa) involved for the hosts.

16h35 - Yassine Ayoub (Morocco) found the back of the net for Feyenoord in a 5-3 win over Heerenveen in the Dutch Eredivisie.

16h25 - Full-Time in the English Premier League clash between Crystal Palace and Watford. The Hornets hold on for a 2-1 win, Wilfried Zaha with a late consolation goal for the Eagles.

16h20 - No fewer than eight African players involved in the French Ligue 1 clash between Bordeaux and Monaco. Samuel Kalu (Nigeria), Francois Kamano (Guinea), Jean-Eudes Aholou (Ivory Coast), Almamy Toure (Mali) and Adama Traore (Mali) all involved from the onset.

16h15 - Jean Michael Seri (Ivory Coast) starts for Fulham who are at home to Burnley. Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa (Cameroon) is on the bench for the hosts.

16h10 - No Victor Moses (Nigeria) for Chelsea this afternoon. The Blues are away to Newcastle United who start with Mo Diame (Senegal) from the onset. Christian Atsu (Ghana) is on the bench for the Magpies.

16h00 - GAME ON. Wilfried Zaha pulls a goal back for Crystal Palace at Watford with just over 10 minutes remaining.

15h55 - From bad to worse for Wilfried Zaha and Crystal Palace as Watford double their lead through Jose Holebas. The Eagles, who failed to convert several chances in the first half, now left to rue those missed opportunities.

15h40 - Watford have hit the front. Roberto Pereyra with the games opener at Vicarage Road.

15h30 - The second half is underway at Vicarage Road in the clash between Watford and Crystal Palace in the English Premier League. Wilfried Zaha yet to come to life just yet, with the Hornets eager to keep the Ivorian quiet - knowing all to well the threat he poses.

15h20 - Goalless at half-time in the English Premier League showdown between Watford and Crystal Palace.

15h15 - Fast start for Mothiba's Lille who are 2-0 up within the opening 15 minutes of the game. They are well on their way to all three points...

15h00 - Over in Germany, Jean-Philippe Gbamin (Ivory Coast) starts in midfield for Mainz who are at home to Stuttgart in the opening round of the 2018-19 Bundesliga season.

14h55 - Still goalless at Vicarage Road. Palace have had the better of the chances thus far in what has been a bruising affair in the afternoon rain.

14h45 - Lebo Mothiba (South Africa) starts up front for Lille who are at home to Felix Eboa Eboa (Cameroon) and his Guingamp teammates. The Bafana Bafana forward scored in the club's most recent game at home: a 3-1 win over Rennes.

14h30 - Wilfried Zaha (Ivory Coast) and Jeffery Schlupp (Ghana) start for Crystal Palace who are away to rivals Watford in today's first of three matches in the English Premier League.

If Zaha were to find the back of the net today he would become the club's top scorer in the Premier League. Isaac Success (Nigeria) is on the bench for the Hornets. Cheikhou Kouyate (Senegal) and Jordan Ayew (Ghana) among the substitutes for the Eagles who will be aiming to build on their outstanding record at Vicarage Road.
