SuperSport United will chase a third win early in the 2018/19 Absa Premiership when they host Chippa United at Lucas Moripe Stadium on 29 August 2018, kick-off at 19h30.

SuperSport claimed their second win in three league matches by overcoming Bidvest Wits 1-0 away from home on August 18. The result – which was secured by a goal from Evans Rusike – saw the Tshwane side end the Clever Boys’ winning streak.

Matsatsantsa’s only home game so far this season brought a 1-0 win over AmaZulu on August 8 – Rusike was also the goal scorer on that occasion.

Chippa claimed their first point of the season as they held Black Leopards 2-2 at home on August 18. The Eastern Cape side twice fought back thanks to goals from Andile Mbenyane and Thatayaone Kgamanyane.

The Chilli Boys’ only away game so far this season ended in a 2-0 defeat at Bloemfontein Celtic on the opening weekend of the month.

In head-to-head stats, SuperSport and Chippa have met in 10 league matches since 2012/13. Matsatsantsa have claimed four wins compared to just one for the Chilli Boys, while five matches have finished in draws. The Tshwane boasts an unbeaten home record in the rivalry, with two wins and three draws from five games as hosts.

Last season the teams cancelled each other out, drawing 1-1 both in Tshwane and the Eastern Cape. In fact, four of the last five league games between the teams have ended in stalemates.

SuperSport’s line-up from their 1-0 win over Wits on August 18: Williams, Kekana, Daniels, Khumalo, Bhasera, Phala (Gould 90+3’), Mokoena, Furman, Modiba (Letsholonyane 58’), Keene, Rusike.

Chippa’s line-up from their 2-2 draw with Leopards on August 18: Akpeyi, Macheke, Modisane, Nthethe, Tlolane, Rakhale, Sangweni, Mayambela, Mbenyane (Kgamanyane 67'), Gamildien (Sali 67'), Lentjies (Klate 77').
