Mamelodi Sundowns are set to complete the signing of Bafana Bafana international Phakamani Mahlambi today.

The 20-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Brazilians, and after weeks of transfer rumours the deal is reportedly close to completion with Al Ahly having confirmed his transfer agreement.

Mahlambi joined the eight-time CAF Champions League winners from Bidvest Wits last year, but struggled for game time and ultimately tried to force his way out of the club.

Mosimane admitted last week that Sundowns were still interested in signing the forward, but that he would probably be too expensive. The Brazilians, though, have since decided to break the bank and dished out a reported $900 000 (R13,2-million) to lure Mahlambi to Chloorkop, with the Clever Boys receiving in excess of R4-million due to a sell-on clause.

Mahlambi will be aiming to rediscover his best form at Sundowns having accumulated a mere 15 appearances in his time at the Cairo-club.

Mosimane will also be hoping that Mahlambi hits the ground running with Sundowns in desperate search of a goal-scorer, having gone four games across all competitions without finding the back of the net.
