Egypt begin preparations for 2019 Under-23 AFCON finals

Egypt U-23 national team have begun their preparations for the 2019 CAF Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.

The North African country is scheduled to host the tournament between November and December 2019.

The competition will determine which three African teams will compete at the 2020 Summer Olympics men's football tournament in Japan.

Egypt under-23 head coach Shawky Gharib has revealed the squad list in preparation for the game against Russia on the 7th of September 2018.

The Young Pharaohs will travel to Russia on Wednesday, two days before the international friendly match.

Belgium’s K.A.A Gent striker Ahmed Mostafa is the only foreign-based player called-up by the coach ahead of the friendly.
