Libya coach Adel Amrouche says his side has put in the hard work ahead of their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against hosts South Africa later today.
The Mediterranean Knights come into the clash at the top of Group E after a 5-1 thrashing of the Seychelles last year.
Despite this, the North Africans are not seen as one of the outright favourites for qualification to Cameroon 2019, with Bafana Bafana and Nigeria’s Super Eagles seen as the two dominant forces in the pool.
This doesn’t phase Amrouche, who is keen to upset South Africa at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban this afternoon.
“It’s not about Bafana Bafana, for me the game is a game that we will prepare for to win. The rest is not our problem,” Amrouche told Kick-Off.
“We’ve planned, and we have an objective and target to do something with this team, but I think we have a good squad and a good team that are motivated to do well.
“I know Bafana is a respectable team and they have high expectations, but we have our target and whether we play against Bafana, Super Eagles or Seychelles, we’re ready to face any team.
“For us, it’s a game like any other game but we obviously have our objectives and targets, and that is qualification for the next AFCON [in Cameroon next year].”
