Ghanaian star Andre Ayew has expressed his sadness at Bafetimbi Gomis leaving Turkish Super Lig giants Galatasaray.
Ayew and Gomis were fast friends during their time together at Swansea City in 2015/16 and they found themselves in the same city recently following the Ghanaian’s loan to Fenerbahce.
However, the French striker completed a shock deadline day move from Gala to Saudi Arabian side A-Hilal.
Speaking about the 33-year-old hitman’s transfer, the Swansea loanee said, “I was disappointed by Gomis’ departure because my best friend left. We are very close, he’s like my brother.
"I respect him very much and he respects me. I talked with him about the transfer. Gomis loved Galatasaray and he was very popular here. He had to leave and so he left. I wanted to play in a derby against him.
"But God knows what’s best for us. Of course, his departure will make Galatasaray weaker. This gives us an advantage in the title race.”
Ayew added, “We will do everything we can to become champions and get that fourth star. This season will be long. We have a league, cup and European games.
"Europa League will also not be easy. We will work hard for our goals.
“As I said before, we’re doing everything we can to win titles, cups. We want our supporters to back us during the bad days and the good days.”
