Equatorial Guinea beat Sudan 1-0 in a Group A 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Estadio de Bata in Bata on Saturday afternoon.

Emilio Nsué scored the only goal of the game as the National Thunder secured all three points on home soil to move level on points with Senegal and Madagascar, who lock horns in Antananarivo tomorrow.

Spanish-born Nsué scored the only goal of the game on the half-hour mark after Sudan failed to clear a hopeful ball into the area. The forward was quickest to react following a mix-up between defender and goalkeeper.

The Falcons of Jediane tried their utmost to get back into the tie, but ultimately slumped to a second successive defeat. The result follows a surprise 3-1 loss at home to Madagascar in the opening round of fixtures.

Equatorial Guinea lost their opening game of the campaign 3-0 away to group favourites Senegal.
