Niger goalkeeper Kassaly Daouda has taken great pride in saving two Mohamed Salah penalties, despite his country's 6-0 defeat to Egypt this past weekend.
Salah directly contributed to four goals in total despite the two missed penalties, with his brace leading the Pharaohs to a convincing win in their Group J 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday evening.
“I have entered history with two penalties against Salah. Despite the success of Salah in the second kick, I am very happy with what I did," Daouda is quoted as saying.
“I will be proud and honored to be successful in front of my children."
Niger will be back in action next month with back-to-back qualifiers against group leaders Tunisia who beat Swaziland 2-0 in Manzini.
Egypt are at home to Swaziland on the 10th of October before traveling south for the reverse fixture on the 13th of October.
