According to Nigerian media outlet Pulse, Everton’s England Under-20 World Cup winner Ademola Lookman is likely to switch his international allegiance in favour of the Super Eagles.

Lookman has long been a target for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). He was born in the English capital of London, but his Nigerian heritage qualifies him to represent the West African nation.

The 20-year-old has has made 27 appearances for various England youth teams, including the 2017 U-20 World Cup final when England beat Venezuela.

But after turning down the Super Eagles following a meeting with Nigeria Football Federation President Amaju Pinnick earlier this year, Pulse claims that Lookman has changed his mind and is poised to announce his decision.

The Pulse Sports source claimed: "An announcement will be made soon, I’m close to his management and they have confirmed that he has made the decision."

Lookman was called up by Aidy Boothroyd last week for England’s Under-21 side for the Euro 2019 qualifiers but was not in the matchday squad.

Should he declare his availability for Nigeria, Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr may well name the Toffees forward in the squad for their back-to-back 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Libya next month.

The Super Eagles will host the North Africans on the midweek of October 9-11, before the return game is played on the weekend of October 12-14.
