Al Ahly head coach Patrice Carteron has highlighted the club's desire to win the 2018 CAF Champions League ahead of their quarterfinal first-leg clash against Horoya AC in Conakry this evening.
The Red Devils are favourites to progress, but will need to be at their best to oust their Guinean opponents who pipped 2016 champions Mamelodi Sundowns to a place in the knockout stages.
Al Ahly head into the match at the Stade du 28 Septembre on a four game winning streak in the CAFCL and the eight-time champions know that victory in Guinea will make the reverse fixture in Egypt an easier task.
“We will play on Friday without any calculations. Horoya is a strong side but our goal is clear which is to win the Champions League, therefore we have to beat Horoya,” Carteron said in pre-match press conference, as per KingFut.com.
“I followed Horoya’s games in group stages. We have an experienced team to a great extent, we play games according to our opponents and we have to be at our best tomorrow.”
“Horoya reached the quarterfinal of the Champions League so we have to respect them. They play collectively and can come back into a game’s result after going down which shows that they got a fighting spirit and desire.”
Kick-off is at 18h00 CAT.
