Nigeria beat Ghana to qualify for 2019 U17 AFCON finals

Nigeria won the 2018 Under-17 West African Union (WAFU) Zone B title on Saturday.

The tournament which was hosted by Niger served as a 2019 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

The Golden Eaglets booked their place in the finals after defeating Ghana 3-1 on penalties following their 1-1 draw after regulation time.

Ghana broke the deadlock nine minutes into the second-half having contained Nigeria at the Stade Général Seyni Kountché in Niamey.

However, Akinkunmi Amoo restored parity for the Golden Eaglets seven minutes after the hour-mark.

The two teams could not find the winning goal in the closing stages of the final.

Nigeria went on to win 3-1 on penalties following an enthralling encounter.

The 2019 U17 AFCON finals will be hosted by Tanzania in May.
