Al Ahly head coach Patrice Carteron has compared Horoya to former employers TP Mazembe ahead of the Red Devils clash at home to the Guinean outfit.
The Red Devils welcome Horoya in Cairo on Saturday evening in a second-leg 2018 CAF Champions League quarterfinal clash. The reverse fixture in Conakry ended in a goalless stalemate.
Al Ahly, eight-time champions of Africa's premier club cup competition, will book their place in the final four with victory in the Egyptian capital and will be favourites to do so, but Carteron is not willing to write off Horoya.
“Horoya want to qualify for the next round, which means that the players need to be fully focused on the match,” Carteron told Al Ahly’s official website.
“We have never underestimated Horoya, they remind me of TP Mazembe. The Congolese side started as a small team and now they are lifting prestigious trophies.”
“The first-leg is now over and we aren’t thinking about it. All our concentration now is on the second-leg in Cairo.
“We will get prepared in a different way for the second-leg and I hope we can continue our journey in this tournament,” he concluded.
