ES Setif midfielder Amir Karaoui has admitted that his team will be in for a tough clash when they face Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League.

The Algerian side, which won the continental tournament in 2014, will face the Egyptian giants over two legs in the semifinals next month.

The teams will first meet at the Al Salam Stadium in Cairo on Tuesday, October 2, before their return clash at 8 May 1945 Stadium in Setif on October 23.

ESS earned their place in the final four by defeating last year’s Champions League winners, Wydad Casablanca of Morocco, 1-0 on aggregate in the quarterfinals.

Ahly, meanwhile, overpowered Guinean side Horoya AC 4-0, as they go in search of a record-extending ninth African crown. And it is the Red Devils’ pedigree in CAF club competition which has Karaoui wary.

“It will be difficult to play against Al Ahly, they are the most decorated club in the African continent. Nonetheless, things change on the pitch,” the midfielder explained, as quoted by KingFut.

“We will give our utmost effort and try to make use of playing the first game away from home to gain a positive result which would facilitate the tie for us. The team is very enthused to face Al Ahly and reach the final.”
