Maritzburg United will chase a second win in the Absa Premiership this season when they host Cape Town City at Harry Gwala Stadium on 5 October 2018, kick-off at 20h00.
Maritzburg are unbeaten in four league matches, with their last outing a goalless draw away to KwaZulu-Natal rivals AmaZulu on October 2. United have kept four successive clean sheets.
The Team of Choice have yet to win at home this season, with two draws and one defeat from their three games as hosts. Their only win this season came at high-flying Bloemfontein Celtic in September.
City have gone six matches without a win in the league and suffered their third defeat of the campaign when they were beaten 2-0 at home by Bidvest Wits on October 2.
The Citizens have yet to win away from home this season, with two draws and one defeat from their three games on the road. Their last away match was a 2-2 draw with Orlando Pirates in mid-September.
In head-to-head stats, Maritzburg and City have met in four league matches since 2016/17. The Team of Choice has claimed two wins compared to one for the Citizens, while one game has been drawn. The KwaZulu-Natal club has recorded one win and one draw from their two matches as hosts.
Last season United took four points off their Cape counterparts, claiming a 4-2 away win (though it must be noted the fixture was played in KwaZulu-Natal due to a lack of available venues in the Western Cape) in the first half of the season and a 1-1 draw in Pietermaritzburg in the return clash.
Maritzburg’s line-up from their 0-0 draw with AmaZulu on October 2: Ofori, Sanoko, Xulu, Onyango, De Reuck, Kunene (Kunene 70'), Shandu, Makaringe, Makgalwa (Figuaredo 46'), Ndlovu, Zakri (Mokate 85').
City’s line-up from their 2-0 loss to Wits on October 2: Leeuwenburgh, Cupido (Mthembu 46'), Seedat, Mngonyama, Fielies, Matsi, Modise, Norodien, Martin, Kateregga (Patosi 69'), Rusike.
