Vusimuzi Mngomezulu scored the only goal of the game as Polokwane City claimed a 1-0 Absa Premiership win over Kaizer Chiefs at an empty Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday evening.
The game was played behind closed doors following a pitch invasion at the same venue last season.
Victory extends Rise and Shine's unbeaten streak in the league to six matches and duly moves them up to fifth place on the log standings. Defeat ends Chiefs seven game run without defeat - they remain third.
Chiefs were the better side in the early exchanges and should've gone a goal up in the eighth minute, but Ryan Moon failed to hit the target with his header attempt from close range.
Dumisani Zuma also went close for the hosts just short of the half-hour mark with an ambitious effort, but it would be Rise and Shine to open the scoring in spectacular fashion.
Mngomezulu with a goal to remember on the cusp of half-time. The midfielder played a neat one-two with Rodney Ramagalela before curling an unstoppable shot from range past Itumleng Khune.
City were happy to defend their lead following the interval and proved a tough nut to crack.
The hosts finally conjured a shot at goal in the 57th minute and George Chigova had to be at his best to deny fellow countryman Khama Billiat from pulling the Glamour Boys level.
Bernard Parker made an instant impact from the bench and had a chance to rescue a point for the Glamour Boys in added time.
The Amakhosi forward did well to lose his marker inside the penalty area, but could only succeed in guiding a tame effort straight down the City shot-stopper's throat.
