Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso reported for national duty despite being involved in a car accident en route to Bilbao's Loiu airport on Sunday.
Deportivo Alavés confirmed on their official website that Wakaso had been involved in an accident, and also confirmed that he had sustained no injuries in the crash and was able to make his flight to Ghana where he has since linked up with his Black Stars teammates.
"It is something that I don't want to remember," Wakaso is quoted as saying by Ghanasoccernet.com when asked about the incident.
"I just thank God for saving me from this incident.
"I plead with you all to help me forget about it.
"Please let's stop talking about it and focus on the game," he concluded.
The 28-year-old has made a return to the national set up having missed the country's 1-0 defeat to Kenya in Nairobi last month.
Ghana take on Sierra Leone in home and away 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers this month with Kwesi Appiah's troops set to host their counterparts in Kumasi on Thursday.
Wakaso has impressed for Alavés this season with the Spanish La Liga minnows currently in sixth spot on the log standings following a 1-0 win over Real Madrid this past weekend.
