Kenya moved three points clear in 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying Group F following an emphatic 3-0 win over Ethiopia at the Moi International Sports Centre in Nairobi on Sunday.
Michael Olunga, Eric Omomdi and Victor Wanyama found the back of the net for the Harambee Stars in victory over their East African rivals, as they move a step closer to booking their place at a first Afcon tournament in 15 years.
The Harambee Stars hit the front in the 23rd minute through Olunga. The powerful forward's turn and shot deflected off Anteneh Tesfaye and into the back of Samson Asefa's net as the packed stadium burst into ecstasy.
Kenya doubled their lead four minutes later through Omomdi. The midfielder hammered home a left-footed thunderbolt on the half volley following good work down the left flank.
The hosts continued to dominate proceedings up until the half-time break, with the Walia Ibex nowhere to be found.
Wanyama netted Kenya's third in the 67th minute following a foul by Abebo Reshad who unceremoniously chopped down Omomdi after Kenya's number 10 had bamboozled the Ethiopian defender.
The Kenyan skipper duly stepped up and made no mistake from the spot to put the game beyond reach for the visitors.
