Chippa United will look for an upset win over Orlando Pirates when the teams meet in the last 16 of the Telkom Knockout at Orlando Stadium on 20 October 2018, kick-off at 20h15.
Pirates come into the game on the back of a 1-1 draw away to AmaZulu in their last outing before the international break. The Soweto giants are unbeaten in their last six matches, though they have draw three of their last four league clashes.
The Buccaneers have won the Telkom Knockout just once (2011) and last season got as far as the quarterfinals before they were eliminated on penalties (after a 2-2 draw) by Polokwane City.
Chippa come into the game having suffered a 2-1 away loss to Highlands Park in their last outing before the international break. The Eastern Cape side had been on a good run which brought them seven points from a possible nine before the defeat.
The Chilli Boys are participating in the TKO for the sixth time but it was only last season that they finally got past the last 16 round, surprisingly beating Mamelodi Sundowns at home. However, they succumbed 1-0 to Kaizer Chiefs in the quarterfinals.
This will be the first cup meeting of Pirates and Chippa, but the teams have been regular combatants in the league in recent years. They have met in 11 PSL matches since 2012/13, with the Buccaneers claiming seven wins compared to three for the Chilli Boys.
The most recent clash between the teams was earlier this season, with Pirates claiming a narrow 1-0 win in the Eastern Cape thanks to an own goal from defender Gerald Modisane.
