Orlando Pirates head coach Milutin Sredojevic is hopeful that Justin Shonga will rekindle his scoring form in the Telkom Knockout Cup this weekend.
The Zambian forward netted in successive 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Guinea-Bissau this month, but hasn't found the back of the net for the Buccaneers since the opening round of the Absa Premiership season.
Former Uganda Cranes head coach, 'Micho', is now hoping that the striker can transfer his scoring form for his national team into more goals for the Soweto giants.
“He worked really hard in the last match [1-1 draw against AmaZulu], he was just unlucky to miss those chances which could have made him the hero," said 'Micho'.
“In that competitive mood, scoring at home and away against Guinea Bissau, this is something we are looking to bank on.
"But, it will not come automatically. He needs to fully focus on our shirt so that scoring goals transfers to the black and white colours of Pirates. I know that he is now fully focused and concentrated. Strikers get confidence by scoring goals.”
Pirates are at home to Chippa United in the opening round of this season's TKO on Saturday evening.
