Wigan Athletic midfielder Sam Morsy has expressed his delight at helping Egypt qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Morsy was part of the Pharaohs squad which picked up back-to-back wins over eSwatini (Swaziland) in Group J matches this past week.
The victories saw Egypt join North African rivals Morocco in securing progression to the 2019 finals in Cameroon with two group stage matches to spare.
"Qualifying is a brilliant feeling. We picked up two great results and it was a very good training camp because it was a good opportunity for me to meet the staff and the staff to meet me,” the English-based player told Wigan’s official podcast.
"It was a really positive camp. We've called up a lot of young players recently and the manager has revamped the squad, it's really positive times for Egypt.
"I believe I'm going to get a good chance after speaking to the manager on several occasions.
"International matches are always really exciting and I always feel refreshed when I come back.
"I've done it for a couple of years now and travelling is part and parcel of that commitment. It's a huge privilege, it doesn't last forever and whilst you play for your country you just have to give it your best shot."
Morsy will hope to feature for the Latics when they host West Bromwich Albion – and compatriot Ahmed Hegazy – in a Championship clash later today.
