Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) vice president Seyi Akinwunmi has declared that Real Madrid youngster Marvin Akinlabi will soon have the chance to play for the Super Eagles.
The Spanish-born 18-year-old, who is of Nigerian and Korean descent, scored for Real Madrid’s junior side in the UEFA Youth League against Viktoria Plzen in midweek.
The talented midfielder could have his pick of which country he wants to represent at international level, but Nigeria are confident of convincing him to don the famous green and white.
“I know him Marvin Akinlabi, he scored a goal in the UEFA Youth League [on Tuesday],” Seyi Akinwunmi told All Nigeria Soccer.
“We are speaking with everybody but it is not everybody that wants to play for Nigeria, it is not everybody that their parents want them to play for Nigeria.
“We are monitoring every single Nigerian kid out there, the ones that are good enough and who are willing to play for Nigeria, we are speaking to all of them, even those who are not willing.
“Definitely Akinlabi is in our plans.”
