Golden Arrows came from a goal behind to rescue a point when they drew 1-1 against SuperSport United in an Absa Premiership match at Mbombela stadium on Sunday.
SuperSport started really well and almost scored in the fifth minute when Ghampani Lungu broke through on goal, but he was denied in a one-on-one with the Arrows goalkeeper.
Nkosingiphile Gumede made another great save in the tenth minute when he tipped a powerful 30-yard shot from Aubrey Modiba onto the crossbar and away from danger.
On the half hour mark Modiba turned provider when his pin-point cross found James Keene unmarked inside the box, but his header failed to hit the target.
Keene made no such mistake in the 43rd minute when Gumede spilled a cross into his path and he duly headed home from close range to make it 1-0 at the break.
Modiba almost made it two for SuperSport five minutes into the second half, but his stunning effort from just outside the box went inches wide.
Modiba was in the thick of the action yet again in the 68th minute with another long-range effort, but this time his shot rattled the woodwork of the Arrows’ goal.
A minute later Arrows scored the equaliser after a swift counter-attack saw Siboniso Conco firing a deflected shot past Ronwen Williams, 1-1.
SuperSport almost stole the lead in injury time when Bongani Khumalo met a cross into the box, but his ten-yard header struck the crossbar as the match ended all-square.
