Ghanaian star Daniel Amartey has paid tribute to the late Leicester City club owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha following his tragic demise this past weekend.

Srivaddhanaprabha was among five people killed when a helicopter crashed into the parking lot of the King Power Stadium following the Foxes’ 1-1 draw with West Ham United in a Premier League match on Saturday evening.

In a statement, Leicester said the club's thoughts were with "the Srivaddhanaprabha family and the families of all those on-board at this time of unspeakable loss".

The club described Mr Vichai as "a man of kindness, of generosity and a man whose life was defined by the love he devoted to his family and those he so successfully led".

Black Stars defender Amartey, who has undergone surgery after suffering an ankle injury in the dying moments of the match against the Hammers, took to social media to pay his own tribute to the Thai billionaire.

“Came out of a successful surgery, but devastating news about the demise of our chairman,” Amartey posted on his Twitter account.

“A generous man, to whom @LCFC owes everything. I’m sure, you’re in a much better place. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and the families of the victims affected by this tragedy.”

Amartey is set to be out of action for six to eight weeks for Claude Puel’s side following his surgery.
