Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez dedicated his match-winning goal against Tottenham Hotspur to Leicester City owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, who tragically passed away in a helicopter accident this past weekend.

Mahrez scored the only goal of the game in the sixth minute of the match as the Citizens extended their unbeaten start to the season.

The 27-year-old joined the Sky Blues following a successful spell with the Foxes where he most notable played a starring role in leading the club to a first English Premier League title.

“It has been very difficult for me”, Mahrez said after the match.

“The boss [Vichai] was very special to me. I spent four and a half years there and have many memories with him. That is why when I scored I put my hands in the sky for him. He did a lot for me and Leicester and it is difficult to speak about. He was like a dad.

“He was such a good person, a big heart and it was heartbreaking and shocking for me to hear this news and for all of the other people who died with him.

'It is a difficult situation. I am with Leicester and the family of the victims.”

Mahrez has now scored four goals in 10 English Premier League games this season, including two in his last two matches.
