Nigerian defender Ola Aina says his time with Serie A club Torino has improved him as a player.
The 22-year-old English-born wingback has been on loan at Torino since the start of the current season and has caught the eye with his performances in Italy’s top flight.
“It has been very good so far and I’m loving it; it is really helping me tactically,” Aina is quoted by AOI Football.
“The football here is very tactical. You have to concentrate a lot. They spend a lot of time on set-pieces and getting the right movement. That is what I would say is really different to England.
“I think I’m learning a lot tactically. In every game and training session, I am learning something new, and I’m just trying to implement that in my game.”
Aina praised the Italian top flight for its higher level of quality and competitiveness compared to his time in the Championship with Hull City last season.
“It’s definitely a higher level than the Championship. The pace of the games varies. Sometimes they are slow, sometimes you play against teams like Napoli and it’s very quick. I’ve been enjoying every game I’ve been involved in,” Aina concluded.
The defender will hope to feature for Nigeria next weekend when they face South Africa in Johannesburg in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
