Esperance de Tunis have been crowned Caf Champions League champions for a third time following a 3-0 (4-3 on aggregate) win over Al Ahly at the Stade Olympique de Radès on Friday evening.
The Tunisians lost the first-leg of the 2018 showpiece 3-1 in Alexandria, but put in an almost perfect display in Rades to come up trumps against all odds.
Having dominated the early exchanges Esperance finally found the opener in first-half stoppage time. Saad Beguir showcased great composure inside the area to control the ball before poking home past an onrushing Ahmed El Shenawy.
The goal came at the perfect time for the hosts who returned to the pitch following the break with real confidence against a 'Red Devils' side seemingly doubting their abilities.
Beguir duly completed his brace in the 54th minute, nodding home following a pin-point cross into the area from the right flank to send the home fans into absolute delirium.
Anice Badri made sure of the result in the 86th minute with his eighth goal of the campaign to seal the title for Esperance and subsequently deny Al Ahly a record-extending ninth title.
