Burundi will be fighting for every scrap in search of qualification for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations when they play South Sudan in a Group C match at Juba stadium on Friday.

Kick-off is at 15h00 (CAT).

Burundi currently sit third in their qualifying group with six points from four games, one point behind second placed Gabon and two points behind leaders Mali.

South Sudan, on the other hand, are bottom of Group C with zero points and will only be playing for pride as they are unable to qualify for the Afcon proper next year.

Burundi, though, will be desperate for victory in order to stay in contention but a lot will depend on the result between Gabon and Mali who are in action on Saturday.

Burundi have struggled to register a victory since their only win in their first Group C match, beating South Sudan 3-0 in June last year.

Since then Burundi have register three draws in Group C. They drew 1-1 with Gabon away from home in September this year, followed by goalless draw against Mali away from home on October 12 and most recently drew 1-1 against Mali at home on October 16.

South Sudan will be looking for their first win after registering four wins in their four matches in Group C thus far. Their defence has been really poor, having conceded ten goals following losses to Burundi (3-0), Mali (0-3) and most recently twice to Gabon (3-0 & 0-1).

This will be the third meeting between Burundi and South Sudan. Burundi have won once (3-0) while the other match ended in a goalless draw.
