Uganda maintained their unbeaten run in their 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifying campaign after beating Cape Verde 1-0 in a Group L match at the Mandela stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The only goal of the game was scored by Patrick Kaddu in the 79th minute to hand Uganda their fourth win in Group L which sees them firmly placed at the top of the standings with 13 points having already assured themselves of qualification for Afcon 2019 in the last round.
The loss for Cape Verde is their third of the qualifying campaign and sees their chances of reaching Afcon next year dwindle and reliant on other matches in Group L.
Currently, Tanzania are second in Group L with five points, one point above third placed Cape Verde. Tanzania, though, are in action on Sunday away to Lesotho (who are currently last on the standings with two points).
If Tanzania beat Lesotho on Sunday then Cape Verde’s chances of qualification for Afcon are gone.
