Mozambique and Zambia will be fighting for Afcon survival

Both Mozambique and Zambia will be fighting for their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations survival when they lock horns in a Group K qualifying match at the Estádio Nacional do Zimpeto on Sunday afternoon.

Kick-off at 15h30 (CAT).

Following the goalless draw between Namibia and Guinea-Bissau on Saturday, a loss for either Mozambique or Zambia would signal the end of their chances to qualify for the Afcon proper next year.

Guinea-Bissau and Namibia are both tied at the top of Group K with eight points while Zambia and Mozambique are tied on four points.

There is a rich history between Mozambique and Zambia with this encounter their 12th meeting. Zambia have had the upper hand with eight wins while Mozambique have one win and the other two matches ended in draws.

Mozambique started their 2019 Afcon qualifying campaign with a 1-0 win over Zambia in June last year and followed it up with a 2-2 draw against Guinea-Bissau in September of this year. Mozambique suffered their first loss in Group K after going down 2-1 to Namibia on October 13 and then a second loss (1-0) to Namibia again on October 16.

Zambia started their qualifying campaign with a 1-0 loss to Mozambique in June last year and followed that up with a 1-1 draw against Namibia in September of this year. Namibia picked-up their first win after beating Guinea-Bissau 2-1 on October 10, but followed that up with a loss (2-1) to the same opposition on October 14.
