Herve Renard has been linked to the vacant Al Ahly head coaching position.

According to a Moroccan report, the Egyptian giants are preparing a 'special offer' in an attempt to lure the Atlas Lions head coach to replace Patrice Carteron who was sacked late last week.

Carteron was relieved of his duties following the club's exit from the Arab Club Championship, which shortly followed their 4-3 aggregate defeat to Esperance de Tunis in the Caf Champions League final.

Hespress report that Renard is among those shortlisted for the Al Ahly job, with the 'Red Devils' reportedly willing to offer a monthly salary of a whopping $120,000, $40,000 more than his current salary.

Renard has enjoyed unparalleled success on the African continent. Having guided Zambia to the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, the Frenchman led Ivory Coast to the 2015 title in Equatorial Guinea.

The 50-year-old, who has been in charge of the Moroccan national team since February 2016, guided the North African country to the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Morocco have also booked their place at next year's Afcon in Cameroon.
