Nigeria international Samuel Chukwueze has been surprised by his rise within the Villarreal ranks in recent weeks.
The 19-year-old found the back of the net for the Spanish outfit in a 2-1 win over Real Betis on Sunday evening, to add to the goal he scored in a 2-2 draw away to Rayo Vallecano. He has scored three goals in five starts across all competitions this season.
Chukwueze, who started the season playing in the reserve league, has taken his oppurtunity in the First Team with both hands.
“It has been an impressive month for me,” Chukwueze told Plaza Deportiva.
“I did not expect to play so soon with the first team but I do not feel pressure or particularly significance, I am only thinking about working hard and continuing to improve.
He continued: "It is important to make sure the coach retains his trust and confidence in me but it is exciting to be playing and doing things that are right.
“Barcelona next week? It is a game that we can win and that is what we are focused on now," Chukwueze concluded.
The 2015 U17 World Cup winner recently made his Nigeria senior team debut in a friendly match against Uganda earlier this month.
