Cape Town City made it three wins from three Absa Premiership matches with a 2-1 victory away to 10-man Polokwane City at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Tuesday evening.
Victory moves the Citizens within two points of Rise and Shine who remain in seventh spot, a place above their counterparts.
The visitors opened the scoring as early as the seventh minute through Ayanda Patosi who continued his good run of form in front of goal.
Thabo Nodada cut through the Polokwane City defence following a pin-point ball from deep before teeing the ball up on a silver platter for Patosi who made no mistake from close range.
Peter Leewenburgh kept the visitors ahead with two top saves to deny Salulani Phiri and Rodney Ramagalela respectively either side of the break.
Siphelele Mthembu duly doubled the Citizens lead in the 58th minute, pouncing on the loose ball and firing into the roof of the net after Harold Ndlovu parried Nodada's initial effort.
Things went from bad to worse for the hosts 10 minutes later as Jabulani Maluleke received his marching orders following a second bookable offence.
The hosts made for a nervy finish as Mohammed Anas converted from the penalty spot following a foul by Thamsanqa Mkhize with eight minutes of regulation time remaining.
CTCFC's defence, though, held firm as they secured all three points on their travels.
