Banyana Banyana sealed their maiden FIFA World Cup qualification with a 2-0 win over Mali at the African Women's Cup of Nations on Tuesday evening.
Victory for South Africa not only booked their place in the final of the 2018 AWCON in Ghana, but also sealed their ticket to the world showpiece in France next year.
Banyana Banyana featured at the last two Olympic Games, but had never qualified for the FIFA Women's World Cup, something they have now achieved by reaching the final of the AWCON where they will face Nigeria.
Desiree Ellis's troops beat Nigeria 1-0 in the group stages of the competition, and will be hoping for a similar result on Saturday as they set their sights on a first AWCON title having finished as runners-up on four previous occasions.
