Ivory Coast international Maxwel Cornet grabbed the headlines as Lyon held Manchester City to a 2-2 draw in the Uefa Champions League on Tuesday evening.

The 22-year-old bagged a brace for the French outfit, who know a draw away to Shakhtar Donetsk in the final round of group stage fixtures next month will book their place in the knockout stages.

It was the first time Cornet had scored two goals in a single Champions League game in his career. He is also the first player to score at least three goals against City in a single UCL season since Lionel Messi bagged four against the Sky Blues in the 2016-17 campaign.

The Lyon winger has scored just one goal in eight Ligue 1 appearances this season, but has found his touch in the UCL and averages a goal every 63 minutes in the competition.
