Kaizer Chiefs could rekindle their interest in Patrice Carteron following his dismissal as Al Ahly head coach last week.
The Amakhosi were heavily linked with the Frenchman before his appointment as 'Red Devils' boss back in June. Carteron duly guided Al Ahly to the 2018 Caf Champions League final where they fell short of a record-extending ninth title; losing 4-3 on aggregate to Esperance de Tunis.
Carteron, though, was sacked shortly after the club's exit from the Arab Club Championship and is currently on the lookout for new employers.
Pressure continues to mount on Amakhosi head coach Giovanni Solinas who took over the reins from Steve Komphela at Naturena. The Italian was not the club's first choice for the job and was only officially unveiled a few weeks before the start of the season.
A slow start to the Absa Premiership season was followed by defeat in both the MTN8 and Telkom Knockout semifinals, and with a win percentage of just 37% after 19 matches, Solinas' future is hanging in the balance.
Carteron, 48, previously guided TP Mazembe to Caf Champions League glory, while he has also coached in Saudi Arabia and the United States of America at club level.
