Peter Shalulile and Tendai Ndoro found the back of the net for Highlands Park in a 2-0 win over Cape Town City in an Absa Premiership clash at Makhulong Stadium in Tembisa on Saturday afternoon.

Victory moves the Lions of the North up to ninth place on the log standings after 12 matches, a position and point behind the Citizens who saw their winning run come to an abrupt end.

Following a rather uneventful first-half, the hosts hit the front through Shalulile who fired past Peter Leeuwenburgh six minutes after the break for his first goal of the season.

Lindokuhle Mbatha teed up the Nambian who made no mistake to send the home fans into ecstasy.

City duly pushed forward in search of the equaliser, but found it difficult to get in behind a determined Highlands outfit and when they were able to fire a shot at goal it flew over the crossbar.

Ndoro rose off the bench with 15 minutes of regulation time remaining and made the desired impact, doubling the hosts lead in the 84th minute.

The former Ajax Cape Town forward with a composed finish as the Lions of the North ultimately held on for all three points.
