Algerian to have another crack at succeeding in England?
According to reports in the Turkish media, Galatasaray’s Algerian attacking midfielder Sofiane Feghouli could be on his way back to the Premier League.
Newcastle United have been linked with a move for the 28-year-old in the January transfer window.
The Magpies have already been linked with a number of players ahead of the window opening at the end of this month and Aksam (as translated by Sports Witness) reports that the Fennec Foxes man is a serious target.
Feghouli has seen relatively little playing time for the Istanbul giants in this season’s Turkish Super Lig. His 10 appearances in the top flight have brought just 426 minutes of playing time, and he has yet to contribute a goal or an assist.
The Algerian impressed during his time at Valencia in La Liga before completing a switch to West Ham United in 2016. He struggled to establish himself and demonstrate his full ability during his short stint in English football but it seems Newcastle could provide the winger with a second chance.
Feghouli, who has also played for Grenoble Foot 38 and Almeria in his European club career, could also use more playing time to force his way back into the Algerian set-up on a permanent basis ahead of their participation in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in just over six months.
