Cape Town City will look to add to Chippa United’s woes in the Absa Premiership when the teams meet at Athlone Stadium on 11 December 2018, kick-off at 19h30.

City saw their three-game winning streak come to a crashing halt when they were beaten 2-0 away to Highlands Park on December 1. It was just a second defeat from six matches on the road this season.

The Citizens have claimed 10 points from six home matches this season, with their latest result as hosts a 3-1 win over Black Leopards in mid-November.

Chippa have gone five matches without a win in the league after they suffered a 1-0 loss at home to AmaZulu on November 30. The Eastern Cape side last won a game back in early October when they defeated Free State Stars 1-0.

The Chilli Boys have claimed just three points (and zero victories) from six away matches this season, with their last result on the road a goalless draw at Maritzburg United in late November.

In head-to-head stats, City and Chippa have met in four league matches since the 2016/17 season. The Citizens have claimed three wins compared to one for the Chilli Boys, while zero games have been drawn. The Cape Town side has won both of their two home matches in the rivalry, at an aggregate of 6-1.

Last season Chippa claimed their first victory over City, defeating their visitors 2-1 in the Eastern Cape in October 2017, but the return game in the ‘Mother City’ in March 2018 saw the Citizens claim revenge with a 2-0 triumph.

City’s line-up from their 2-0 loss to Highlands on December 1: Leeuwenburgh, Mkhize, Fielies, Dove, Seedat, Putsche, Modise (Links 70;), Nodada, Ralani, Patosi (Martin 46'), Mthembu (Kateregga 80').

Chippa’s line-up from their 1-0 loss to AmaZulu on November 30: Akpeyi, Macheke, Nsabiyumva, Mokeke, Rakhale, Timm, Komane (Shongwe 75'), Tlolane, Lentjies (Sali 46'), Gamildien, Seakanyeng (L. Manzini 65').
