Three African players have been nominated for the official UEFA Team of the Year.

Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane have both made the 50-man shortlist, as has Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly who enjoyed another stellar season for the Italian giants.

Salah and Mane played an integral role in the Reds reaching the 2017-18 Uefa Champions League final with the latter finding the back of the net in an eventual 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in Kiev.

Koulibaly has gone from strength to strength at the heart of Napoli's defensive line with his performances having attracted strong interest from English Premier League suitors in recent months.

Both Salah and Mane have continued where they left off last season and the Reds currently occupy top spot in the English Premier League. Egypt international Salah netted a hat-trick against Bournemouth this past weekend to fire the Anfield club top of the standings.

Liverpool's Uefa Champions League hopes this season, though, hangs by a thread and the Reds need to beat Koulibaly's Napoli on Merseyside this evening if they are to qualify for the knockout stages.
