Cape Town City have confirmed the signing of Bafana Bafana international Kermit Erasmus.

The 28-year-old makes a return to the Premier Soccer League following unsuccessful stints in France, Sweden and Portugal where he last played for Vitoria de Setubal.

Erasmus joined French Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais from Orlando Pirates in January 2016, but failed to break into the First Team - making a mere 11 appearances for the club before moving on-loan to Lens and eventually AFC Eskilstuna and Setubal.

Tipped as a future star, Erasmus broke through the SuperSport United ranks and onto the Netherlands where he played for Feyenoord and Excelsior before a return to South Africa.

Erasmus captained Matsatsantsa before joining the Buccaneers who he helped to the 2015 CAF Confederations Cup final.

He joins fellow former Orlando Pirates forward Tokelo Rantie at City.
