Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk is not reading much into Mohamed Salah's muted celebrations.

There has been a spark of concern among Liverpool supporters in recent weeks with Salah deciding to keep his celebrations rather lowkey after finding the back of the net.

Van Dijk, though, has waved away any critics of the Egypt international, deciding to focus on the positives with Salah having seemingly picked up the form that fired him to the English Premier League golden boot accolade last season.

"He’s scoring goals," Van Dijk is quoted as saying by the Liverpool Echo. "He’s smiling.

“He can’t smile every second of the day but he’s enjoying it I think. He’s scoring his goals, he’s working hard, defensively as well.

“We don’t need to see any negative things about that (goal celebration) so we just need to focus on the good things.

Van Dijk continued: "He’s been doing very well. People can say he’s not scoring as much goals as last year, but that’s always the media.

“People underestimate how strong he is. He's a very important player, great guy and is deadly in the box.”

Salah has scored 13 goals in 24 appearances across all competitions this season for the Reds.
