Playoff round field to be decided this weekend.
The first round of the 2018/19 CAF Confederation Cup will wrap up with 16 matches across the continent this coming weekend.
The action gets underway with a trio of matches on Friday: RS Berkane and Etoile du Sahel both take 3-0 advantages into their away legs against Al Ittihad and Stade d’Abidjan respectively, while Petro de Luanda will fancy their chances of adding to their 1-0 lead over AS Nyuki.
The pick of Saturday’s games from Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny in Abidjan where San Pedro and DC Motema Pembe’s tie is locked at 1-1, while Asante Kotoko, NA Hussein Dey and Mukura Sports Victory have home advantage for the return legs of their goalless ties with Kariobangi Sharks, Green Eagles and Al Hilal Al Ubayyid respectively.
Those who seem to have one foot in the next round already are Kaizer Chiefs (3-0 up away to ASSM Elgeco Plus), defending champions Raja Casablanca (5-0 up away to Cercle Mberi Sportif), KCCA (3-0 up away to Mtibwa Sugar) and Burkina Faso surprise packages Salitas (2-0 at home to Al Masry).
Sunday sees Zamalek and CS Sfaxien both taking strong leads into their matches at AS Coton Tchad and Green Buffaloes, Hassania Agadir’s 2-0 lead is somewhat less secure for their trip to Senegal’s Generation Foot, and the ties between Enugu Rangers and USM Bel Abbes (0-0) as well as New Star and Al Ahli Tripoli (1-1) are very finely balanced.
