Ajax goalkeeper has emerged as a target for the Spanish giants.

AFC Ajax and Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana is remaining cool over speculation linking him with a return to Spanish giants Barcelona.

The 22-year-old started his European career on the books of Barcelona’s youth programme, having been spotted by the Samuel Eto’o foundation.

In 2015 Onana joined Eredivisie giants Ajax and he has become a key player under manager Erim ten Hag, establishing a reputation as one of the best up-and-coming ‘keepers in European football.

His performances this season – especially in the UEFA Champions League, where Ajax progressed through challenging group to book a place in the knockout rounds – have earned him plenty of praise and recognition.

As a result, he has been linked with a move back to Barcelona where he would be a replacement for Jasper Cillessen. The Dutchman is reportedly eager to leave the Camp Nou in order to have more first-team football.

Onana told Marca: "Do I know anything new about Barça's interest in replacing Cillessen? I have no new information.

"I spoke with Jasper a few times, but I do not know what decision he will make. It's in his hands, in the Netherlands, he's a real idol.

"Time will tell what's going on with everyone. For my part, I am quiet."
