Senegal and Internazionale attacker Keita Balde has condemned the racist abuse suffered by his compatriot, Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
The highly-rated defender was the subject of racist chants from Inter fans when Napoli lost 1-0 at the San Siro on Boxing Day.
Koulibaly was clearly affected by the situation and was sent off late in the game, as was teammate Lorenzo Insigne.
Keita has now come out and condemned the abuse suffered by his international teammate, saying that such behaviour should not occur today.
"I consider Koulibaly to be my brother: we play for the same national Team, and I tell him the things that I want to say personally on the phone,” explained the Inter forward.
“Such things most certainly should not be happening in our times: football is wonderful and doesn't need bad moments and insults tainting it.
"Football should be enjoyed, it provides hope and brings joy to children. We all have to do better and work together to create a better world."
Koulibaly, meanwhile, has been linked with a move to English giants Manchester United, who may be willing to break the world record transfer fee for a defender to secure the 27-year-old’s signature.
