Baroka, Leopards set for New Year derby

Baroka FC and Black Leopards will open their Absa Premiership work in the New Year with a Limpopo derby at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on 6 January 2019, kick-off at 15h30.

Baroka picked up their third win of the season when they defeated Maritzburg United 1-0 away on December 22. The result ensured they didn’t end the year at the bottom of the log.

Bakgaga have claimed just seven points from as many home matches this season, with their last result as hosts a 2-1 loss to Bidvest Wits in mid-December.

Leopards broke a six-game winless streak in the league by defeating AmaZulu 3-1 at home on December 15. It was a third victory of the season for the Limpopo side, who have managed just 13 goals in their 14 matches.

Lidoda Duvha have claimed just three points from seven away matches this season, with their last result on the road a 1-1 draw at Maritzburg United on December 12.

In head-to-head stats, Baroka and Leopards have met in just one previous top-flight league match. That encounter took place earlier this season, with Lidoda Duvha winning 1-0 at home thanks to a goal from Phatutshedzo Nange.
