English giants Chelsea are reportedly keen on signing AC Milan and Ivory Coast midfielder Franck Kessie.
According to TMW, both Chelsea and their London rivals Tottenham Hotspur are keen on bringing the Elephants player to the Premier League in 2019/20.
The Blues are looking to boost their midfield options and the all-round skills of Kessie would be a great fit for their style under manager Maurizio Sarri, while Spurs are likely to need more options in the engine room should the likes of Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele leave the club – which could happen as early as this January transfer window.
The 22-year-old is currently on a two-year loan deal (with an obligation to buy) at Milan from fellow Serie A club Atalanta.
However, with the Rossoneri looking unlikely to qualify for the UEFA Champions league next term, Kessie is set to be open to moving from the San Siro.
And Chelsea have a strong bargaining chip at their disposal which could give them the edge in the race to sign the Ivorian.
The Blues’ Tiemoue Bakayoko is currently on loan at Milan and the prospect of a swap deal could well see Kessie follow in the footsteps of players such as Salomon Kalou and Didier Drogba in heading to Stamford Bridge.
